I bought this boat a while back. It has a new engine old one froze and busted. When they got the new engine in they found the upper unit needed gears. I've put it back togeather even replaced the exhaust manifolds that had hairline cracks. When I backed it into the water it takes on water at the back of the engine where it connects to the transom down low it seems.I can't feel anything cracks in the exhaust only see water trickle down inside of transom. Do these crack something in that area?

The other guy done the new engine. All I've done is put the out drive back on. Is the seal you speak of a round steel and rubber seal or a gasket? Do I need to pull the engine back out? Does this seal go in from the outside or on the inside or around the out put shaft? I pulled the out drive off and don't see any cracks in the exhaust passages. The out put shaft housing was dry no water in the bellows. It doesn't look like the transom gimble housing has ever been taken off.???
