Hi all, new round here just hoping to pick your brains
Next year I will be building my own speedboat - by saying i will be building i mean i will be using a family friend who is a professional boat builder and i will be his tea boy
Back when i was 20 (few years ago) i was in the merchant navy as an engineer so have a rough understanding of engines but of a much larger scale.
what i'm really after is reconditioning my own engine to use on the boat. its basically going to be in the style of a riva aquarama with a pretty pacy engine.
can anyone off any good options, i.e good places to source engines needing repair or types of engines i should go for. My experience is with big old wartsila buggers so i'm quite green to the smaller things so suggested reading material would also be cool.
main idea is i want to do the whole engine side of things and be prepared before we look too much into the actual boat design that way we can/ he can design around the weight of my engine
any tips would be great even if its, give up and just by a recon
