Hi am having a problem with my late 80's mercury 40hp 2 stroke 4 cylinder outboard.have set the carb 1 1/2 turns out but it will not idle only on fast idle as soon as i push the idle off the engine cuts out.Any other things i should be adjusting.Have just replaced the stator as engine would not start due to faulty stator the old one was only starting the engine every now and again and on 3 cylinders,since i replaced it it now fires on 4 will this have anything to do with replacing the stator as to why it wil not idle.
