Use sparkplug washer or not?

The manual for my AQ131A says not to use the "gasket" that comes with new spark plugs.

Do they mean the metal washer that is on the NGK plugs out of the box or am I misreading that? Do I remove it or not? Thanks.
 
Well, I can say, you must use the plug washer.

The part that you do not use is the threaded bullet that can be installed on the end of the plug for fitment into the proper sized ignition wire.

Volvo ignition wires for that series connect to a threaded end of the plug (still pushes on).

It gives a nice rattle proof connection.
