454's, a few questions

I just bought 34' Luhres with twin 454's that weights 16000 pounds.. My last vessel was a 42' Viking with the same engines weighing in at 38000 pounds. I was surprised that this vessel had the big blocks on her. I would have thought that it would have had the 'BABY' Crusaders in her. I know that she will have a lot more speed than the Viking, but is this unusual? What should the compession range be on these 454's 1990 with 650 hours?

I've never seen a luhrs over 29 ft with anything other than big blocks (when drinking gasoline).

how much speed; depends upon the hull condition, the gear used and the props. I'd make a guess and say a cruise speed of 18 would be impressive. top speed probably 24 empty. Check your favorite search engine for a boat test report.

As far as the compression goes, GM came out with a note a while ago. It says 100 psi, minimum, AND all cylinders within 15% of the max cylinder reading. And you can do this cold, too.
