New to diesels

Currently looking at trawlers. All that I've looked at have diesels. I currently have gas motors and no experience with diesels. How many hours are concidered a lot of hours on a diesel? Any other pointers would be great.

Diesels can run for a long time if they are taken care of. Like any engine it does depend on what kind of care is given. I have heard of diesel engines having well over 10,000 hours before.
