4-53 air silencer cleaning?

Sorry, silly question. The previous owner of my boat let it get really grimey. Any tips on cleaning this thing? It sounds like it's full of sand.
 
Hopefully it is not full of sand that would be terrible.I would inspect my blower real close while it is off.Anyway,i would just soak it in mineral spirits for a while, pressure wash it ,and blow it out with air then, let it rip
