Most shops want both props in there even when only one prop is being repaired.
Besides, these props must be removed at least once annually.... (twice if in salt water)..... and the shafts cleaned/greased, or you will be starting yet one more thread!

... been there done that. Since then, I do take them off yearly and grease them.

When i visited my brother for a week when i first got the boat, we had to take the prop off everyday. My father was soo paranoid about someone stealing the drive off the boat he actually slept in it for 2 nights. Till i told him if someone can get this thing off without making a lot of noise or taking for ever then more power to them. I maybe boat a few times a month. Typically if it sits long enough between uses and i have to charge the batteries i will remove and grease the prop shaft. Takes only a few minuets.
