leaking gas 1946 40hp

I have a 40 hp 1996 force, turns over, but wont start. when I squeeze the bulb from the gas tank for prime, gas shoots out from a small hole on the side of the carb Can someone please give me some info on what to do. thanks...

Sounds like your carberator float is stuck.
You need to clean and rebuild the carb.
