If you go much over 70% EG, the freezing point actually rises pretty fast.

The "best" coolant is pure water with a corrosion inhibitor added. The only 'problem' with it is to remember to drain it if you are up enough in latitude to worry about freezing.

Also, I've found the easiest purge method is fill the HX with the purge (bleed) plug out. Then run the engine at fast idle until the thermostat housing is close to opening up (IR Gun) & as soon as it opens, shut it off. the coolant level will drop and then stabilize. Let it cool down and then repeat. when the coolant doesn't drop any more, the bulk of the air is out. Take it for a cruise and then check the level after an overnite cycle. If steady, you are done.
