Stripped out drain plugs on 454

Hey Guys, I have a problem , I winterize my 454 crusader engine and stripped out both drain plugs on block. Left side is right next to motor mount and can not be tapped without removing engine mount,right side is up againest the wall and of course under maniford. I purchased those rubber inserts with wing nuts but then don't go in very well and don't trust them,If one was to come off I could take on alotof water if I was not at the boat for awhile.Any ideas? Thanks
 
You CAN retap both of those holes. Here's how: Find a socket the grabs the end of you tap. Usually (since it's a square end) a 12 point socket of some size will work. (Sears sells 8 point sockets that will work.) Then, use a ratchet to tap the hole out, but be DAMN careful not to snap the tap off.
