Changing lower unit oil in 1979 7.5 Hp Gamefisher

Hi. I have a 1979 7.5 Hp Ted Williams/Eska Gamefisher that I found in a chicken coup. I got the motor to run fairly well, and modified an old water impeller to fit because the old impeller was pretty much shot. My question is how to change the lower unit oil?

The bottom of the lower unit is just a plate with four screws and no drain hole. There is a single hole marked "Fill", but I'm not even sure how to fill the lower unit. I would just take it all apart, but I'm a novice mechanic and didn't want to tear something apart blindly.

In addition, the lower unit seems to be leaking oil from under the cavitation plate? (not sure if that's the right term) - its the plate just over the prop. Anyway, the oil drips down right on the prop hub. Any suggestions on what to be looking for there?

Thanks!!

Lay the bugger on its side with the fill plug up. Fill it up untill no more goes in. If you have an oil leak normal, external, you have to pull the bugger apart as probably leak from drive shaft seal.

Arnt ya lucky?

Better oil out than water in eh?
