when rpm reaches 2000 tach qu

when rpm reaches 2000 tach quits and voltmeter in creases to 16.5 volts

when i bring the rpm down tach works and votlage returns to 13.5

any ideas

"Steve.... The usual cause of that problem is a faulty water cooled Voltage Regulator/Rectifier. It's located on top of the powerhead, just to the rear of the flywheel.
