It applies to the 90 HP as well. As you will see, there are many opinions with various rationales that all make strong arguements. They are very interesting to read.

I personally have no opinion...I have only communicated what the head of American Honda Marine Service has told my boss and echoed to me by my District Service Representative...do not use synthetic motor oil in any Honda until it has at least 800/900 or more.

No matter what you actually do, be sure to change it according to the manufacture's recommended schedule. If it is for commercial and heavy duty use, it should be changed more frequently.
