J and T 671 TIB Valve Adjustment

I have a 88 45 Viking Conv with J&T 671 TIP is it necessary to adjust valves from time to time

If you are asking about intake and exhaust valves, yes. I see that you have a bypass blower so if you are asking about the bypass valve, it is not adjustable but should be serviced at scheduled major tune-up. By serviced, read replaced. Actually, The valve lash is typically "checked" at tune up and adjusted as needed. Service check tune is typically performed at approximately 1000 hrs.

Major tune-up would typically be around 2500 to 3000 hours and would involve, at a minimum, removing and flow testing the injectors along with assessing governor, turbo and blower for wear. Some people just swap out the injectors at this time. Of course, it's your boat and your money so your methods and intervals may vary. hthy jimmyd

OK thanks so I would not have to have this done every year. Hours would be les than 300 per season
