starter sel and coil problem 1977 351

New member
Put new starter seloniod on my 77 sea ray with 351 windsor motor. Have schematic but have a problem with the coil. Have 2 tan wires in the wiring loom going to the coil then on to the + coil side. When wires apart i get 11 volts through one tan wire and 2 volts though the other. When I put them together I get 100 volts. Don't know whats going on and why they would have 2 wires going from the same post on the starter selanoid to the same post on the coil.
