Hello everyone,

I just bought a used Mercury 4 hp LS SN 3158149 for $65, it has not run in 10 yrs. as I am told. My problem is I do not what size fuel connector (Female end) to buy. It is the smaller size one from the current one on my 1974 7.5 hp mercury. Can somebody tell me the size to order, I would also need the correct part number for the male end comming from the carb. Thanks for looking.

Since you are looking at replacing them I would really suggest you switch over to the OMC bayonette style fittings (which are similar to the Yamaha style used on some Merc models, but they are not compatable with the OMC).

Why?

The OMC fittings are about half the cost of Merc's and work just as well. Besides, Merc has about a dozen different connectors out there, OMC has 1 - so without considering the cost, if you are ever in the "boonies" and need a part you have a much better chance of finding the "only" connector for an OMC compared to one of the many (and probably not what you need) for a Merc...
