Sorry, that is absolutely not true. Just like a motorcycle you pull choke out, start, push choke in when warm and motorcycle will idle. It's the same with my motor. A motor should idle. I drained the fuel lines till clear was not coming out lines (water I assume) and gas was. Motor started, after 15 minutes of running rough and good gas flowing through motor I let it idle another 45 minutes before I shut her down. Sorry. Maybe just a misunderstanding in my original statement. Bottom line, make sure gas is flowing into carb by removing fuel line right before carb. When shutting down for winter, disconnect fuel line with cutoff and let motor run till carb dry. No gunk in carb come spring.
