differece between auto,marine distributor

Hi all,i bought a S craft with 305 gm volvo and it has an accel hei dist. in it,runs fine,do i need to lose dist, thanx to all
 
Any automotive ignition distributor will not be approved for Marine use. It must be ignition source protected.
Also, the advance curve and limit may not be correct for marine use.
The two are typically not same! Why risk engine damage?

An automotive distributor can be unsafe, can get you a nice fat citation, and if there were a fire due to this, your insurance company may have an OUT for any coverage.

It's not worth the risk, IMO, and for those several reasons!
