Any advantage in using the tall oil filter vs standard oil filter on the V-8?

(AQ271)

I have the tall (PH13 - I believe) now and will be changing oil soon, in need of new filter........

PH30 is the short one.

Volvo mainly used the short, OMC and Mercruiser the long.
I always used the long on all.
If using the short, at least use one with a blockage release valve.
(You see a spring when looking down the center hole).
 
The pressure relief (by-pass) is built into the SBC filter base, and many filter cartridges will also go into by-pass mode. Not good!
This is why we should never exceed a recommended change interval.

Yes to the longer cartridge if you have room for it. This equal more filtration media!

BTW, I've used Fram for years up until reading several articles comparing filter quality and tests. Politics, negative spin, marketing...... what-ever, I'm no longer using Fram!
 
PH13 is a Fram...never use fram in your boat or car,,,cheap filter with cardboard backfdlow valves...They can explode under marine oil pressures...
