2007 f 150 hp water pump change

"I understand how to do everything, but am confused with one step. I was told to cut the flexible pitot speedo tube right above that fitting. Can't I just cut the zip tie off the tube and slide it off. If I keep cutting the tube I will have to replace it more often.
