In 1987 OMC had alot of 140hp

In 1987 OMC had alot of 140hp powerheads the ones with the bulb at the back (tuned megaphone)
They intoduced these into Australia as 110hp but were 120hp approx

What is inside may not always be what is stamped at the cowling, but the general production 'rules' accepts a tolerance of 10% of indicated, up and down.
So I think we may assume that Grant is in the tomb.
He may have put on some weight or lost some, but still it is Grant!

I know da-- good and well that Evinrude didn't make all the different hp motors exactly what they said on the cowl so I'm wondering just how many different hp's did they make.

"The only way to figure out what is 'under the cowling' is by using the model number and parts list.
There are a lot of 'local specialties' due to tax rules, license rules, etc.
To mention a few:
In Norway a limit on 9.9 due to age.
In Germany a 5 HP rule due to license.
In Italy a 25HP rule I thing due to tax and license.
The list goes on.
The problems emerge when the countries that ordered these engines cancel the order and they are 'dumped' somewhere else.
they look like Grant, should be treated like Grant even if some of them are on steroids and may perform like Jessie Owen after a slight 'tune up'."
