"Hi Folks, I have a 1957 Chris Craft Corsair that has been repowered with 1967 Chrysler 426M motors, one standard and one reverse rotatation. My reverse rotation motor has been over heating lately so I pulled the thermostat and tested it on the stove-top: it failed and so I will replace it.

The problem is that the motor seems to have the standard flying saucer type thermo and a second screw in type thermo that shuts off a portion of the cooling system ( tranny coolers and aux water heater). Can I unscrew that unit and test it on the stove top as well?

Does anyone have any info on the cooling diagram for these motors, mine has a seawater pump for the wet exhaust and a freshwater pump for the heat exchanger, motor and 2 oil coolers (one reverse gear and one transmision?)???

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks"
