"I just bought a pontoon boat,

"I just bought a pontoon boat,On the back were the motor mounts it has a half box tapering up toward the front of the boat,the bottom of the box is below my water line,were is the cavitation plate on the motor, suppose to be on a pontoon boat at the bottom of the box thingy,any info will be much appreciated.Thanks Rob"

"Rob, a picture might help - can't really figure what that "box thing" might be.

'toons don't follow the normal rules for mounting a motor because they don't have a transom.

So the easiest way I have found to determine the correct placement of the motor is to run a string line around the pontoons themself such that you have a straight line going from the bottom of one pontoon to the other.

The cav plate on the motor is then lined up exactly with that string so that it is adjacent to what would (normally be) the lowest part of the transom."
