I have read in a few other places not to use marine oil in my Ward Seaking 7.5hp (Clinton Marine) Why?? what is the difference??

marine outboard oil, or more specifically known as TCW-3 oil are ashless. This type of oil is used for outboard motor that are water cooled and operates at lower temperature.

What you referring to as 2 cycle oil are used for air cooled motor, such as weed whacker, leaf blower, or small outboard that does is not water cooled. The term 2 cycle oil is not accurate term as TCW-3 oil is also used for 2 cycle motor as well. So air-cooled 2 cycle oil often contain ash. Which is needed to protect the motor at higher temperature.

With that said, there are a few oil mfg now advertise their 2 cycle oil both as TCW3 certified and also work with air-cooled motor.

Clinton motor are air cooled motor.
