"Hi again,i have stated before that i'm a novice when it comes to outboard motors & this will become quite clear after these questions.Does the water pump impeller spin when the motor is ideling in neutral in the water, if so does it spin clockwise or anti clockwise.Also does it spin the same way in reverse as it does in forward gear & which way is that...Thanks...Warren..."

do I lube the ruber impeller ??
 
Yes , The Key, into the keyway'
I have not done any research on lubing the impellar, with silicone greese ?
Im sure the metal n gears were greesed.
Have not had time to dis-assemble ...to ck. the water pump or timing yet...

Hi Guys,
I have an 8hp unit that the drive shaft won't come out of the bottom of the crank...I need to remove it to refit the water pump assembly I believe?
Any ideas please?
