I am not sure if my motor is charging the batteries. When the motor is off and the key is switched to the first position - the voltage gauge says 12.8 'ish. When I start the motor the voltage gauge does not increase at any RPM.

This season, I replaced my batteries w/ a pair of Titan's. The rectifier is new as of last season ( and I recall after this R/R last season that the battery gauge read 14 volts when I was running ).

I own a good voltmeter. Can you describe:

How I can test to see if I am charging ?
How I can test to find out where the problem is ?

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Alan"

"Alan..... Do you have a tacho

"Alan..... Do you have a tachometer? If so, and it is operating normally, the charging system is operative as the tach operates off of the charging system. There is a small round ampmeter type gauge (Test Tool)you can purchase that has a channel like runner on the back of it. By simply placing this device over the positive battery cable, it will give you a reading of the charging systems output.... or lack thereof.
