My 150 XR6 turns over very slow and the starter gear sticks. I have replaced the battery. And I was wondering if there is supposed to be a shim between the starter and the block

I had the same problem on my X

I had the same problem on my XR6. I replaced the battery cable and cleaned all connections and the problem was solved.

"thanks guys you have been a big help this solved part of my problems, it is turning over faster but still not fast enough to start, could it just be the starter, it is the original "

"If you did not replace the cables, try starting it with a set of jumper cables. Go right to the starter and see if it turns fast enough. (be careful, there is going to be a lot of sparks) If it spins fast enough when you do that. There is a possibility that the solinoid is going out or the battery cables are bad. My starter is the original from 1992. Spray some silicone lube on the starter shaft too. If it still spins slow then you have a starter problem."
