"Boat on a lift? Need to do some work on it? Can't reach anything from the dock? I went through this hassle. Had boat lift guy out spouting about this type of platform, and that, $1000 for this, $900 for that. I came up with the best solution. Pair of 8' 2x4's, overlapped a foot or so, sandwiched using deck screws, gives me a working length of about 12'. Two 8 footers with a 4' piece across the bottom for a base to sit on the bottom, toward the middle or end. Sheet of scrap plywood for the decking. Mine goes perpendicular to the seawall and dock, and the 2x4's slide right under the seawall cap. Build time, a couple of hours. Total cost less than $30. When you are done, trash or re-use the lumber. Mine has been up for months, and the Home Owner demons haven't even complained yet!"
