"I have a 1986 Gibson with a Crusader 270 and Volvo outdrive.
Anyone know what outdrive model it is or how to tell? Pictures on the web look like a 280. I want to change the impeller since I have not since I bought the boat.
The engine will run for about 30 minutes and then it shuts off for no reason. Last season I would just put it back in neutral and give it alot of fuel and it would start right up again. It would smell like gas real bad, but it would usually start right up. This year it seemed to loose the electrical connection, as I would go to start it and no electrial. Went to jump the batteries and they were fine. Put the cables on the starter and the lights came back on on the dash. Is the shifter broke? Why does it shut off after a short period of usage? Has new carb. and ignition. Ground Wires look rusty, but that is all I can find wrong on the outside."
