Fixing cracks in gearbox 1982 40 hp

"As per the attached photo I am concerned over 2 cracks that have shown upo in my gearbox / propellor area - Mariner 40hp 1982.
Is this common and what is the best repair method?

"Another housing. Hard to repair the threads inside after welding, and no one has a tap that size.
