"I have a 1998 Evinrude 150 on a 20' Princecraft that stalls while trolling at slow speeds. The following is what happens:
1) Battery voltage is at 12.0V or below. If I increase RPM, voltage will go above 13.0V. Full speed voltage goes to over 14.0V.
2) After engine stalls, I have to squeeze fuel bulb a few times and restart. Then engine runs for a few minutes and stalls again.
3) Engine never stalls running at normal speeds.
My theory is that there's something wrong with the alternator and, at idle (lowest engine speed possible for trolling), it's not adequately charging the battery. At idle, how many volts should the alternator be generating?
Could there also be something wrong with the fuel system? The bulb gets awfully soft.
Could the idle be set too low and causing the two problems above?
Any help will be greatly appreciated."
