I have a 21ft. Four Winns Cutty I Want to repaint. It has a lot of scratches. The existing paint is a blue with clear coat. Should I strip the existing paint off and prime then apply the finish coat? Could I use a roller or spray ? This is going to be done outdoors. Any help would be appreciated.

"A lot depends upon what you want to put back on. If you want to keep the color similar, you'd only have to strip the old off if the new product's directions require that step. There is also the possibilty of 'chemical compatability'; again, read those instructions for the new stuff.

Brush, roller, or spray will also be in those instructions. Spraying usually provides a superior finished product but doing it outside is going to be fustrating. The guys I know that take on this task usually use awlgrip though there are many competitive products out there."
