I have a 1994 evinrude 50 50TL

I have a 1994 evinrude 50 50TLERE. I am trying to rebuild the resiviour on the trim where the piston comes out to raise the motor. I have the seals I need but cant get the cap off the resivoir. I am using a spanner wrench but it wont budge. Is this cap reversed threaded? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated as I have never done this before. THANKS

I sometimes tap the side of the tube adjacent to the threads using hardwood and a hard rubber mallet. Are you in salt water?
 
Any idea what size the holes a

Any idea what size the holes are that the tips of the spanner wrench go in. The tips on my wrench slip out. I think they may be too small.

"The threads are normal (not reversed) use heat around the cap, in my experience if you cant undo the cap you will need a new cylinder because salt water corrodes both the threads and if you can undo the cap it drags the threads out with the cap."
