Testing the high temp alarm

I have a 1991 Bayliner Capri w

I have a 1991 Bayliner Capri with a 90 HP Force outboard. The high temp alarm doesn't sound when I first start the motor so I don't know for sure if it's working. Isn't the alarm supposed to chirp when you first start the engine to let you know it's working? How do I test my alarm? It looks like all the wiring is in place and none of the fuses are blown.
