"I'm currently restoring 2 HPDI 250HP motors that were partially submerged during a hurricane last year. I've finished the mechanical rebuild, and replaced or repaired all the sensors and relays. I purchased the Yamaha PC diagnostic kit with a USB adapter, but the ECM's do not respond. I've verified they have power and grounds to the connector, but they still do not respond. Since they cost near $1,000 each and both do not respond, I hate to spend the money if I'm merely forgetting to do something. The Yamaha shop manual has no information about how to bench test them. I could go down to the dealer and try to locate a good motor, but they're not easy to access so that's going cost a few $'s for the mechanic to do the test. Anyone have any information on how to bench test a Yamaha ECM?"
