" Hello, I posted last year about problems I was haveing with my outboard, and I finally got it into the shop to get checked out.

It turns out that I need a new clutch dog and pinion assembly, forward gear, and a new reverse gear. I was wondering about prices for these parts, as the repair bill as quoted by the shop was a little out of my price range. I am now considering getting the parts (and a good book)and trying to do the work myself.

Any resources that anyone could provide for these parts would be appriciated.

There are a lot of sources for vintage outboard parts... you can try our directory, and hopefully others here will have some suggestions. Where do you live?
