"I just bought a 1994 Mercury 40HP 4 cylinder outboard, off the boat. Unfortunately, while it was being loaded onto my trailer for transport, the tilt release lever was moved, and the transom bracket is now nearly perpendicular to the motor and shaft. The piston is quite strong, made to counterbalance the weight of this 250 pound motor. Any ideas how to retract this? It is currently hanging in my garage from a lifting eye in the flywheel."
