"Well I replaced the rectifier and decided to try it. I checked for a spark first and it had an excellent spark. I got it started and ran it for about 30 minutes in a barrel. It is hard starting cold but runs well when warm. Starts right up when warm.
I fogged it for the winter and plan on rebuilding the carburetor and fuel pump before spring. It's defintely a fuel delivery problem and I'm thinking it is probably the carburetor (needs cleaned.
It sat in my brother's shed for ten years before he gave it to me so I think a good cleaning will help a lot. While I am at it I'll rebuild the fuel pump. I already replaced the water pump impeller.
