" I have a 3.0LX Mercruiser that starts fine cold runs good, but when I slow down it floods and stalls. Even after I shut it off I see gas pouring doun the carb for another minute. I have to wait then restart. Could this be fuel pump problem or problem with carb. Please help thanks "

"Sounds like the float in your carb is stuck or sunk, making the mixture very rich - okay when it's cold, but will quickly flood the engine. A carb rebuild may be in order. Also check that fuel pressure is around 5-8 psi. Too high fuel pressure can cause carb flooding.

"I think so. If you can get a rebuild kit and a good tech book on your carb, just follow the instructions and work carefully. Before you commit to the carb rebuild, check the fuel pressure, throttle linkage and choke operation to make sure it's not something simple.
