"I need to pull the power head

"I need to pull the power head out of the pan to inspect the wiring for damage and clean it up. I took three bolts out of each side of the power head (underneath pan) and see that I have 3 vibration dampners to loosen as well. The powerhead is stuck on pretty tight. How's the best way to free it without damaging something? Am I missing anything?
Thank you,
Bill"

"The powerhead tends to stick

"The powerhead tends to stick pretty good to the exhaust housing.

I use a metal paint scraper (the really thin bladed ones) and tap it (or really thump it sometimes) with a rubber mallet to break the seal.

You are going to toast the base gasket anyhow no matter how careful you are, so whack away..."

"Thank you guys!! I appreciate you helping me out.

I'm the idiot that reversed polarity on it. I can't find any visable damage that would explain the smoke. Going to do a thorough inspection and while I am at it clean/rebuild the carburetor and rebuild the fuel pump. I am also replacing the rectifier. After all this I'll see if it will run.

I'll post an update then.

Thanks again,
Bill"
