The MerCruiser operation maintenance and warranty manual states that timing at idle is not adjustable. How do you set the timing on a 350 mag mie after the distributer has been removed the engine spun then replaced back?

the adjustment procedure varies by distributor/ECU combinations. Basically, there is a jumper wire to enables a fixed timing mode. Once entered, the spec ignition advance is dialed and & the distributor locked down. Jumper removed and ECU controls timing from then on."
