"Please see picture. Is this rubber ring supposed to be fitted to the pumps water tube as shown or is this thw "slinger" that should be on the drive shaft just above the sea water pump?

It does not sling oil just so

It does not sling oil just so you know.

It is a gasket if you will that keeps exhaust from entering the top of the water pump housing and mixing with the cold water.

I usually put a small amount of grease on the bottom suface so it spins freely on the pump housing.
