"I hear many questions about overheating on the 318 engine. I had the same trouble on a boat I once owned. I am getting ready to reinstall my twin 318's after rebuilding and want to know the best thermostat to use. ( 160, 180, etc.) I have also been told not to run without a thermostat. Is that correct? Correct. If RWC, it should run about 150 with a 140 t-stat; if FWC around 170 with a 160 t-stat.
