I have had some ignition problems and was advised to
just try replacing the plugs. Did this and tested
fire by letting plugs rest on head and watch for bright blue fire. Also just let plug boot rest on
head (without plug in boot) and saw some blue fire on the block side of the coils. Does this mean the coils are bad (cracked) or was this just a result of no plug to fire to?

Voltage always takes the path of least resistance. If the coils are leaking to ground it will cause a missfire and should be replaced.

I rebuilt this power head and it has run fine
only to run for a long time be shut off and not
crank acting flooded. It appears I have finally found my problem. With finding blue spark with new plugs but blue leaks around the coils can I assume that my power pack is ok?

Thanks

"The power pack fires the coils. If the coils are leaking to ground, the power pack is doing its job. I would think the power pack is OK."

"The pack probably is okay, but if you keep using it with leaking coils you will end up replacing it too."
