Best gasket sealer

I'm getting ready to mount

I'm getting ready to mount a head gasket and was wondering what you guys would recommend as a sealer?
..also for the water jacket gaskets.30HP Johnson thanks

Lay the gasket on a piece of cardboard and paint the sealer on liberally. Then take a putty knife and press it out so that you have a very thin coat. Turn the gasket over and do it again.

If the gasket says "use no sealer" just ignore that and use the above process."
 
You will probably get several

You will probably get several pros who will chime in with "never use permatex on an outboard." I use it all the time with great results. They make an aircraft version with a brush cap that is great for this purpose. Carbs and intakes are the only parts that I assemble dry.

"i think,..what u may be referring to,..is silicon sealer..........i use aviation formagasket--brush-in -lid,..every day......its the exact same stuff,....as omc gasket sealing compound....i have used gallons...of both.......i never use,any permatex,in a tube..."

If you have Silicon coated OMC head gasket then DON'T use anything.
