have a 1985 140 hp mercruiser

have a 1985 140 hp mercruiser and i just had the bellows replaced at a shop.The bottom bellows has a bunch of cracks between the ribs .Is this normal and if not would it be a mfg defect he gets all his parts from sierra and other than the cracks it looks new so i know it is not used haf them replac 2 months ago any suggestions.

Do you store you drive in the full up position? that could be stressing the bellows a bit. It is less stressful to store in the down position.

"What do the other bellows look like? Two month old bellows should be crack free. Either it's a defective bellows or "new OLD stock" that's been on someone's shelf for a few decades. Ask for new stock; you paid for it. And yes, Brian is correct about storing the OD in the down position so the bellows won't take a set and then tear."

A reliable technician would replace it w/a new one and return the defective one to the supplier.
 
yeah i went down there and he

yeah i went down there and he told me to bring it in next spring and he would replace it for free.
