"I have run across a 2002 4 stroke 90hp Mercury outboard serial# OT449558 for the "right" price but it has a bad powerhead. Owner claims it has approximately 400 hrs. on it. Mechanic says 2 valves seized and a piston hit the valves.
I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice about finding a rebuilt 4 stroke powerhead for this? I have looked online and all I can find are 2 stroke powerheads. I was thinking about rebuilding this one myself but was wondering if the powerhead is too far gone for whatever reason, is a new powerhead from Mercury the only option?
