Do I have selectric shift

"I bought a 1961 Evinrude 40 H

"I bought a 1961 Evinrude 40 HP Lark III 35524, I have been trying to dig through manuals to see if I have the selectric shift or not, the motor did not come with a wiring harness so nothing was hooked up so I have no idea what I have, as far as I can figure out my model only supports manual shift is that correct?"

"if u have an evinrude....ur control box,would have 3 buttons........if u have 2 shift cables,..u have a manual shift,...both have advantages..61 40,...i woud expect it to be elect shift...look at the shift cables going in to the eng,or look for,elect wires,going to lower unit.."

Electric shift feature was introduced in 1962.

JWB..... I had to check the books. It kept running theu my mind that the 1961 could be a electric shift model.

Bob..... Somebody stole your gears and shift wire!
