"Hello,
I recently acquired a 1971, 12.9 hp Chrysler outboard. I am doing a number of things before attempting to start it for the first time... Carb and fuel pump rebuild, impeller replacement etc.
Ive noticed that one cylinder isnt giving me a strong spark (the same plug on the other wire is). Instead of sourcing out new points and condenser I was wondering if something like this would work to replace them:

Is something like this worth a try or is it guaranteed not to work? Would I risk any damage to the engine by trying it?
The one thing I dont understand is how would the module know when to fire the plug?
Thanks!
Matt"
